Tornado Talk Summary

The deadliest tornado of the April 3-4, 1974 outbreak was the F5 that hit Xenia, OH. Per the SPC, it continues to be in the top 10 of costliest tornadoes on record. Per Thomas Grazulis in Significant Tornadoes, “This was the most publicized tornado of the day and perhaps the most well-studied tornado in history, from a wind-engineering perspective.” 36 people were killed and over 1100 others were injured. April 3, 1924: An F2 tornado moved slowly through parts of Denton and Dallas Counties in Texas. Near Renner, a man was killed when he was tossed into a tree. At the end of the 15 mile path, the Lawler schoolhouse was demolished. A total of 14 injuries occurred.

On this day in 2012, an EF3 tornado struck the town of Forney, TX. Seven people were injured as 14 homes were destroyed and 70 others were damaged. Source

Radar of the Day

A very high-end EF-2 tornado moves into the cities of Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas during the afternoon of April 3, 2012. The tornado destroyed 8 homes and damaged 291 others across the two cities. A tornado emergency was issued for this storm; amazingly, there were only 7 injuries and no fatalities.
