Tornado Talk Summary

Tropical Storm Beryl made landfall near Panama City, FL on August 16, 1994. A total of 31 tornadoes were produced, 23 of which were confirmed in South Carolina.  We have a detailed summary about an F3 tornado that struck parts of Lexington County.  It developed SSE of Lexington, moved NNW to Secret Grove on Lake Murray.  There were no fatalities and 40 injuries.  Read the full summary here

August 16, 1928: An estimated F3 tornado moved NNW through Ashley Heights, NC. Five homes, a store and a cotton gin were destroyed. Path length less than a mile. Associated with a tropical storm. Two were killed, 20 injured. 

Twister From The 2000s

On August 16, 2016, an EF0 tornado touched down briefly near Constableville, NY. Along, the 0.22-mile long path, a section of a cornfield was flattened. Videos uploaded to social media show the small twister dipping down. More information can be found here

 A dust devil formed over the Nine Mile fire camp, near Missoula MT. A supply tent was blown over, injuring three men. Gusty winds in excess of 35-40 mph fueled the Black Mountain Fire west of Missoula. The fire spread over 4000 acres during the evening hours forcing evacuations of more than 130 homes. Two homes were completely burned and lost on Cedar Creek Road. For more information, click here
