Tornado Talk Summary

A waterspout turned tornado moved onshore SW of Egg Harbor in Door County, WI. Thousands of trees were snapped and uprooted in Murphy Park. F3 damage occurred at a two-story farm house torn off its foundation. Read the full summary here

August 23, 1786: Grazulis documented a torando that hit in the Woodstock-Pomfret-Killingly area of Connecticut. No rating could be given. A total of 20 homes and 63 barns were damaged/destroyed. A woman died in her home.  

Twister From The 2000s

On August 23, 2011, an EF2 tornado ripped a 7-mile path through Clark and Wood Counties in Central Wisconsin. Two people were injured. The worst damage occurred near Chili, where several homes and barns were damaged or destroyed. For more information, check out the NWS Summary here

On August 23, 1933, one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in Mid-Atlantic history made landfall near Nags Head, NC as a Category 1. Significant damage occurred across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. An inlet was carved at Ocean City, MD, from the storm surge. 42 people were killed. More information on this historic event, here
