Tornado Talk Summary

Numerous tornadoes were spawned by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debra on August 29, 1978. One of those was a quick-hitting F2 that struck portions Memphis, TN. A Wendy’s and Pizza Hut were destroyed and a steakhouse damaged near the corner of Chambliss and Elvis Presley Boulevard. 80 automobiles in the parking lots of various businesses were damaged. August 29, 1925: Grazulis documents a tornado in Wichita County, TX on this day.  It moved south of Electra and hit several small homes. Two children were killed in one of those homes.  Rating given:  F2.

Twister From The 2000s

August 29, 2005: Hurricane Katrina spawned a killer F2 tornado in Georgia. It tracked for 5.5 miles through parts of Heard and Carroll Counties, near Roopville.
