Late February 13 into early February 14, 2000, 3 devastating tornadoes struck portions of Southwest Georgia. Two were rated F3 and one was rated F2. There was a total of 19 fatalities, many in mobile homes. Approximately 200 injuries were reported.
During the early AM of February 7, 1971, a waterspout south of Santa Rosa Island moved northeast becoming a tornado near Navy Cove. Half of the units in a 112-unit apartment complex were destroyed near Gulf Breeze. 112 people were injured, there were no fatalities.
There was one tornado reported on January 28, 1956. It hit during the late evening in Faulkner County, AR. It moved to the northeast from the Wooster area to 1 mile south of Greenbriar. The Climatological Data Summary then states the tornado “went aloft for 10 miles, returning to the ground in Barney-Enola Area.”
43 tornadoes occurred on this day and one of the strongest devastated the town of Clarksville, TN. It struck the town at 415am CT. It moved a total of 4.3 miles, through the downtown area and dissipated near Saint Bethlehem. There were 5 injuries and no fatalities.
