Tornado Talk Summary

Five tornadoes were reported on January 12, 2005. Three were confirmed in Missouri. One was in Claiborne Parish, LA and the strongest was an F3 that moved through Union County, AR. We discuss that event in this summary. Read it here

January 12, 1932: An F3 tornado moved through portions of Hale and Tuscaloosa Counties in Alabama. It moved 8 miles across the east side of Moundville. 30 homes were destroyed along with a two-story grammar school. 9 were killed in 5 different homes. 29 were injured.

January 12, 2013: An EF2 tornado moved through the town of Hampton, KY, along a 1.83-mile path. A church was destroyed, and another lost its steeple. Many trees were blown down. Source

January 12, 1888, The “Children’s Blizzard” blasted the plains.  It caught many people off guard, including hundreds of school kids. At least 235 people were killed. Many were children. Source
