January 26, 1879: Grazulis estimates that an F2 tornado struck near Lockhart, TX. 40 homes were damaged or destroyed and one child was killed. 15 others were injured.

January 26, 1700: An estimated magnitude 8.7-9.2 earthquake occurred just off the coast of modern-day Oregon. A tsunami destroyed and led to the abandonment of several coastal towns in the Pacific Northwest. The tsunami also caused significant damage in Japan. Source
