June 28, 1924: An F3 tornado crossed through portions of Portage County, Ohio. “Three men were killed at milking time in three separate barns near Mantua.” At Nelson, many of the buildings were unroofed or had other varying degrees of damage.

Twister From The 2000s

On this day in 2018, what was likely a violent tornado (but rated EF3 based on current damage indicators) tracked for nearly 7 miles from near Capitol, MT, to near Camp Cook, SD. A tractor near Camp Cook was thrown several miles to the northwest (the tornado was moving northeast), landing in Montana. A large farm building was swept away and had chunks of its foundation ripped up and tossed. Source.

On this day in 1924, an F4 tornado devastated the towns of Sandusky and Lorain, OH. 85 people were killed and over 300 others were injured as over 1,000 homes and many businesses were leveled. 15 deaths occurred in a theatre that was destroyed. Other killer tornadoes struck near Nelson, OH and Custards, PA.  Source
