Tornado Talk Summary

The Spencer, SD F4 tornado of May 30, 1998 was 1 of 5 tornadoes produced by one supercell that tracked about 30 miles. This destructive tornado had a path length of 14 miles and hit the small town of Spencer (population at the time of 320) destroying most of its 190 buildings. 6 people were killed and 150 were injured. May 30, 1931: An F2 tornado tracked from 10 miles NE of downtown Columbus, OH near Central College and the Westerville area. Three barns were demolished, along with a filling station, garage, cars, a truck and a bus. No injuries or fatalities reported.

On this day in 2004, an F3 tornado tracked for five miles near Peru, IN. Several homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. A communications tower was topped. One person was injured.  Source.
