Tornado Talk Summary

A total of 11 tornadoes were confirmed on October 17, 2012. All but two were in the state of Mississippi. The strongest of the day was given a rating of EF3 with maximum sustained winds of 140mph. It moved through parts of Scott and Newton Counties in Mississippi. Read the full summary here

October 17, 1946: An estimated F3 moved 7 miles from SW of Goodland, OK to the edge of Hugo. Several homes and the Goodland Indian School were unroofed and torn apart.

Twister From The 2000s

On October 17, 2007, an EF1 tornado tracked for 11.46 miles through rural Randal County, TX. It snapped numerous trees and power poles and caused extensive damage to many barns and sheds. One home also was hit. Source.

October 17, 1998: Heavy rain began falling across the San Antonio area on the 17th and lasted through the 19th. Up to 30″ of rain fell in some spots resulting in widespread significant flooding. Sadly 31 people lost their lives. Source.
