Tornado Talk Summary

Rixeyville, VA F4 Tornado – September 24, 2001: On this day, one of the most significant tornadoes to ever hit the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area occurred. Per the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), this F4 is one of only two in records going back to 1950 within the state of Virginia. The other one occurred on August 4, 1993, in Petersburg. September 24, 1900: Grazulis documents and F2 tornado that moved eight miles through parts of Rice County, MN. At Gattske’s Saloon near Morristown, a dozen people sought shelter. Seven were killed when the brick building collapsed. An eighth person was killed at a barn near the tornado start point. The body was carried 400 yards.

Twister From The 2000s

On September 24, 2019, an EF3 tornado ripped a 5.5-mile path just northeast of Elk Mound, WI. A home was swept away, and trees were debarked. For more information check out the summary from NWS Twin Cities
