The articles on our website have taken a great deal of time to create-sometimes hundreds of hours. We document all the details from a particular tornado event and cite all of our sources to the best of our ability. We ask that you don’t take our summaries and post on another blog, website, chat room, etc. You can share the link but please don’t post ANY portion of the summary writing. Those are the words of the Tornado Talk Team. We will take action if any of our work is redistributed. If you would like to reference a particular summary in a blog or project, please contact us and let us know – we will be more than happy to grant permission if we can.
Images/Video: We go to great lengths to cite the sources of our images and videos. As much as we can, we ask for permission to use all multi-media. Some images/video are necessary to tell the story of the event and we may present some of those under fair use and use proper citations. “Fair use permits a party to use a copyrighted work without the copyright owner’s permission for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research.” Our work falls under a few of those categories.
Many of the images/videos located on this website are from government agencies such as the NWS or FEMA and we credit them. There are some images/videos that were licensed to us to be used only for Tornado Talk. We ask these materials (which are clearly denoted within our narratives) not be redistributed in any way. If you would like to use an image/video in your project or blog, please contact us and we will grant permission if possible.
Most tornado track maps are created by Tornado Talk. If you want to use any of our maps or overlays on social media, blog, etc… please contact us for permission.
We ask that you do not use our subscription service with the intention of gaining access to subscription-based content on an “as-needed” basis. That is, we ask that you do not sign up for a subscription to view and/or save the content that requires a subscription, then canceling shortly after, then resubscribing, then canceling. This can lead to your account being eligible for termination.
If you are a paid member and are sharing content, especially that which is behind the paywall on any platform, your account will be eligible for termination.
Tornado Talk has a subscription service in order to maintain the quality of our product and increase the quantity of summaries offered. We ask that you respect the hard work of the team by not stealing our content.
